Online IFS-Informed Therapy

IFS, or Internal Family Systems, is a therapy model developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz. It's based on the idea that we all have different parts. Some work hard to keep life under control, some react quickly to protect us from pain, and others carry hurt from earlier experiences. Even the parts that cause problems may be trying to help.

IFS also holds that beneath these parts is a core Self, which can respond with calm, curiosity, and compassion. Our clinicians use IFS-informed approaches, drawing on these ideas alongside other kinds of therapy.

How therapy can help

  • Understand inner conflict, such as feeling pulled in different directions
  • Respond to self-criticism, shame, and perfectionism with more compassion
  • Work through anxiety, depression, or trauma by exploring the parts involved
  • Understand yourself more deeply, not only manage symptoms

What to expect

  1. Getting to know you: You and your clinician talk about your history, your goals, and what brings you to therapy.
  2. Noticing your parts: You learn to recognize the thoughts, feelings, and body sensations connected to different parts.
  3. Getting curious: You explore what those parts are trying to do for you and what they may need.
  4. Moving at your pace: You decide what feels ready to explore, and sessions stay focused on your goals.

Sessions take place by secure video. You'll need a private space and a stable internet connection.
